Recognize the process function
Centrifugal, positive-displacement, vacuum, and specialty pumps can require different silhouettes on documentation. The approved P&ID legend remains the authority.
On an HMI, the driver and pump may be shown as one operating object or as coordinated objects. Whichever model is chosen, keep the state mapping consistent across the project.
Review the operating object
- 01
Identity
Show the equipment tag and service where the display hierarchy requires it.
- 02
State
Distinguish stopped, transitional, running, unavailable, and faulted conditions.
- 03
Control context
Expose mode, command source, permissives, and interlocks in the detail view.
- 04
Process evidence
Use pressure, flow, current, or speed trends when they help confirm performance.
